Before we jump right in, I figure it'd be beneficial just to kinda touch base and refresh yourselves on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our vehicle down the road in the first place. And the first one's gonna be a base plate and that's gonna provide us with a solid and reliable attachment point. That way we can hook our tow bar up to it. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Sonic, we're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar, part number BX7420. Now, keep in mind this only going to be one component of a safe, complete flat tow setup. For a complete setup, you are going to need a base plate, tow bar wiring, a tow bar, and a braking system. Specifically for our sonic, we also used a fuse master fuse bypass, because we do need to pull fuses for them.As you can see, our Sonic isn't directly in line or behind our motor home, but we're still able to hook it up, because the extendable arms that work independently from each other, making hooking up a lot easier, even on even terrain. Our tow bar is going to serve as the connection between our Sonic and our motor home, making sure that we can flat tow it safely and securely and get down the road. On one end, it's going to attach directly to our base plate on our Sonic, and on the motor home side, it's going to slide directly into the receiver tube or the high-low adapter like we have here. more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

Today on our 2012 Chevy Sonic, well be installing the Roadmaster Falcon all terrain tow bar, part number rm-522. Well be installing this on to the Roadmaster easy two baseplate with removable arms, part number 523173-1. The first step of installing our Falcon tow bar, well be installing the quick disconnect brackets on to the removable arms of the baseplate. To do this, well take the bracket lining up the predrilled holes on the bracket with the predrilled holes on the arms. Then well take our bolt and run it through the bolt plate, through the bracket, and through the arm securing it with a flat washer, split lock washer and nut. Therell be a total of two bolts per arm, for a total of four bolts altogether.Now with all of our hardware installed finger tight, well then take the quick disconnect base and drop it into position on top of the quick disconnect brackets. more
